Ford Begins Shipping Focus Electric
May 23rd, 2012
Though Ford has been quiet about the Ford Focus roll-out plan, they were not shy about promoting the electric vehicle when the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt made headlines as the first mass-production plug-in vehicles to be produced in North America. Roughly 350 Ford Focus Electrics will soon be delivered to dealerships in California and in the New York/New Jersey market.
Ford CEO Alan Mulally stated that he wouldn’t consider the Focus Electric to be a flop if less than 5,000 units were delivered this year. A small number has already been sold to pre-selected fleet operations. Consumers have not yet had the chance to purchase their own versions of the electrified compact sedan. Confidential sources have stated that each dealer will receive five consumer cars and one demonstrator.
