President’s 2013 Budget Would Increase EV Tax Credit to $10,000

President Obama included a provision in his 2013 budget to increase the tax credit for certain plug-in vehicles from $7,500 to as much as $10,000. According to the proposal, vehicles would have to operate primarily on an alternative to petroleum.  Bryan Hansel, the chairman and chief executive of Smith Electric Vehicles asserted, “This tax credit would likely take two years off the return of investment for vehicles such as ours, and that would dramatically help with the adoption rate.”
